The Asterisk Appliance is a standalone embedded PBX. Targeted for small to medium businesses (2-50 users), and remote branch offices of larger organizations (2-50 users per site), the Digium Asterisk Appliance will feature the commercially licensed Asterisk Business Edition software and the first Digium-developed Asterisk GUI framework. The Digium GUI framework provides simple, easy-to-use, basic configuration capabilities for open source developers to differentiate and customize their Asterisk-based solutions and applications. The Asterisk Appliance will also offer a hybrid solution alternative (a combination of VoIP applications using legacy telecom equipment) for enterprise customers who are not yet ready to migrate to a complete VoIP solution.

The AADK provides ITSPs, OEMs, resellers, and integrators with the components necessary to develop a turn-key telephony platform based on the Asterisk Appliance.
Kit Contents
The Asterisk Appliance Developer Kit was designed to allow developers to begin working on solutions based on the Asterisk Appliance before its general release. By developing new business applications using the AADK, kit adopters will have an opportunity to become authorized Asterisk Appliance Partners, qualifying for special programs, pricing and priority availability on production products built on this platform.

AADK Bundles
So that you get the most from your Asterisk Appliance, the AADK is sold in Bundles which include Digium Training and Support. The AADK Bundles may be purchased directly from Digium or Authorized Digium distributors.
AADK Professional
The Asterisk Appliance Developer Kit bundle now includes three full days of training with one day of Asterisk Appliance Administrator training, plus two days of Asterisk Appliance Developer training. The unique Developer class will instruct how to develop, compile, port, and debug applications for uClinux. The class includes intensive hands-on labs and is intended for engineers and developers with Linux experience. The 3-day combination course leads to Asterisk Appliance Developer certification, entitling you to Digium developer-level support for uClinux applications porting, as well as support for the GUI and basic application issues.
AADK Adminstrator
Perfect for resellers and VARs, this package includes all of the components of the Kit, and one day of Asterisk Appliance Administrator training, covering the Appliance features, how to configure the Appliance using the GUI, (including hands-on labs), how to skin the GUI or make minor changes to it, and sales tips for resellers. The training leads to Asterisk Appliance Administrator certification, entitling you to Digium support for the Appliance, GUI, and basic application advice.
AADK Standard
Intended for Asterisk experts, those who simply want to preview the Asterisk Appliance, and others who do not require training or support, this package includes the Asterisk Appliance Developers Kit only.
